The Story of ROOFLISS - The Van that crossed Cook Strait
On Monday 14th September 2009, the team at Mark Stevenson First National Real Estate decided to bring ROOFLISS home. Being designed and crafted in Marlborough, trialed in Picton Harbour, and having sailed from Picton to Mana, gives this amphibious boat / van a strong Marlborough Heritage worth preserving. Our team did not want to see the craft go North or South - it belonged in Marlborough.
The vehicle is being made available for Marlborough community gatherings, but long term we would like to see it housed somewhere permanantly for the general public to view Life is for enjoyment and this tongue in cheek craft has astounded many by being the first amphibian craft to cross one of the roughest stretches of water in the world. Bringing it home to Marlborough is another way for us to thank Marlburians.
To celebrate the one year anniversary of the voyage of ROOFLISS accross Cook Strait, we want to give one lucky Dad the chance to have a ride in ROOFLISS and sail her on Picton harbour. To enter, all you have to do is send us a drawing of ROOFLISS, and tell us a little about why your father deserves to win the chance of a lifetime!
